Pine Marten Jumping Towards Me

This image was taken on the Ardnamurchan peninsula on the west coast of Scotland. During June the young kits start to explore the immediate vicinity of their forest home. By early July, they are following their mother on her hunting forays. Pine Martens have made a remarkable recovery in the UK after years of heavy persecution and are now starting to recolonize much of their former range.
